Dear All,
Here are some important notes regarding ENG 506. Please read and act accordingly. Remember: we are a team.
TST BOCES DISCUSSION: Elizabeth has begun posting on the TST BOCES site — starting Wednesday. I EXPECT you to participate (BEFORE SUNDAY). If you have not yet participated on Saul’s posts, please go back and do so AND engage with Elizabeth. Once there is a critical mass of response from you, I will engage, too, but as I said, it is important for the primary “push” or input to come from you all for many reasons. http://tst21stcenturylearning.ning.com/
ASSIGNMENT LINKS: For your convenience, I have added links assignments to our sidebar on the Course Calendar wiki: http://eng5062011.wikispaces.com/home
PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO: I have also updated (significantly) the Portfolio assignment. I think you will like our approach: http://eng5062011.wikispaces.com/Professional+Portfolio . Please note: there was a misconception circulating among some of you that you needed to complete pages on all 13 Learning Outcomes. Please read the new assignment page for clarification of what exactly I expect you to produce (i.e., just a shell of that final doc that you will produce in AED 578/678).
VIDEOTAPED INTERVIEW ON MONDAY: As I’ve mentioned to almost all of you, on Monday in class while you work on your various projects, I will be interviewing you on video about your learning process using Web 2.0. I am going to make a brief infomercial of sorts about learning Web 2.0 for digital immigrants (haven’t chosen the genre yet) and will send you the questions via email that I will be asking, so that you can think about the way you would respond ahead of time. Also know that I will ask for your permission before publishing any final cut of this (so you can have final approval rights). Please keep your eyes peeled for that email.
GRANT-WRITING WEBQUEST: Here is the grant-writing site of mine that I mentioned: http://web.mac.com/itskenney/iWeb/Site%209/Home.html . You can also see here how I integrated a webquest and an interactive wiki site here that was a little difficult for us to wrap our heads around in class on Monday. The site was made a while ago and needs major updating, but it is a decent sample, I think.
VIDEO-EDITING: If you plan to work on video in class on Monday (many of you do), please bring your headphones and (if necessary) microphones. It will be too noisy otherwise.
WEBQUESTS: Here are some sites that orient you to webquests as a genre http://urli.st/mMXF. Several of us have discussed the format for our particular webquest in our meetings this week, so I will be compiling that info and sharing it with you before Monday, I hope, in which case I will post details on edmodo (be sure you are getting edmodo updates sent to email or your phone).
Elizabeth has some ideas about the webquest that she is going to be writing up on our student wiki or google docs. Please be courteous and look these over as they are posted, so that we are all on the same page on Monday.
HOMEWORK: There will be no official homework this week, but I will post the body of this email on our Course Calendar so that you know where to look for it in the future. It’s up to you whether you choose to Diigo/Tweet/Blog/Respond.
Thanks for meeting this week and I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
